Since most of you aren’t aware of what refurbished smartphones are, I’ll start by shedding some light on them.

What Is a Refurbished Smartphone

Basically, it’s a pre-owned phone that’s been refurbished by a manufacturer or a distributor to get it back to what it used to be. The question of why they’re sent back is because there are sometimes defects on these phones which the company then removes. Before they’re sold again to consumers, these devices go through extensive quality control testing and repairs.

When buying a refurbished smartphone, it’s important to ensure the device is certified and comes with the full manufacturer’s warranty. There are plenty of reliable, trustworthy online sellers that give refurbished or used mobile phones such as Wise Market. They make sure that the device you’re getting is one of the best smartphones with a limited warranty to ensure customer satisfaction.

Additionally, if you buy refurbished, you’ll get the latest technology without paying full retail. A refurbished phone is usually newer with better specs than an older model, so it’s perfect for people who want the latest tech at an affordable price.

Overall, buying a refurbished mobile phone can be a great way to save money on high-quality devices without sacrificing performance or functionality. With certification from reliable sources and manufacturer warranties in place, customers can rest assured they are getting a great product at an unbeatable price.

7 Ways to Take Care of a Refurbished Mobile Phone

Now, moving towards the main topic of this article which is how can you best take care of your used or refurbished smartphones. Even though these devices have to go through full testing when it was refurbished, there are a few things that you still need to look out for. I currently own a refurbished iPhone 12 Pro and here are all the precautions that I keep in mind when using such a device.

1. Keep the Device Clean

It’s no surprise that when you continuously use devices for several hours a day, they will get dirty at some point. It can be anything from sticky fingerprints to spilled juice. However, don’t throw it in running water just to get some dirt off it because that’s a very bad idea.

If there are a few fingerprints then all you need to do is use a clean piece of cloth to get them off. But if there is some stubborn dirt on it then use a slightly damp piece of cloth to get it off. Emphasis on the word “slightly”😑.

Additionally, don’t use any hard chemicals like the types used in a sanitizer because they can damage the screen of the phone beyond repair.

2. Keep It Away from Water

Water is the natural enemy of all thing electronics and this also goes for a refurbished mobile phone. That’s why most companies make sure that all of their devices have some sort of water resistance so that no water getting’s in the phone.

However, refurbished smartphones are a bit different because they have to be opened which can nullify the water resistance. That’s why in the last point I said to only use a slightly damp cloth to clean your phone because even a small amount of water can leave the device useless.

There are some people on the market that will re-water pack the phone but I don’t recommend that at all because previously the phone was opened by a professional who knows how to handle the phone but not this time. Additionally, no one can say that the water-resistance seal that they apply will hold.

3. Apple Screen Protector

The screen is the main part of the smartphone and protecting it against any type of scratches and scuff marks is very important. That’s it is recommended that you invest in a good quality screen protector.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve dropped my refurbished iPhone 12 Pro on the hard floor (display first) and the only reason that it stayed protected is because of the protector. I recently changed the protector and the screen underneath it was completely crack-free.

4. Use a Phone Case

Just like a screen protector, the case of the phone is also important. This is because not only does it give protection against any unexpected falls but also helps to protect the camera. Why you ask because most of the phones being made these days have a significant camera bump.

A very good example of this is iPhones because they started the trend of outward camera lenses. I prefer not to put the phone on its back but in cases where you need to place the phone camera first, always use a case with a small ridge around the camera cut-out.

5. Don’t Let It Overcharge

Now, this is something that you should always keep in mind even if you have a brand-new phone. Never let the phone reach a full 100% battery charge and I know you think that I’m crazy for even suggesting this but hear me out.

The state of a full charge on a smartphone is very taxing on the overall battery health of the granted. Granted that you’ll get a full battery at the start but slowly but surely the battery will start to lose charge. This is because its battery health has dropped. Experts recommend that you only charge your phone when the battery is nearing 40% and no more than 80%.

I didn’t really know about this thing before I bought a used iPhone but I highly recommend that you employ it on your phone no matter what type of OS it uses.

6. Never Use the Phone When Charging

Staying with the theme of charging phones, never use the phone when it’s charging. This is because it’s not only harmful to the overall battery health but using the device in such a way is also very dangerous for you.

If you go back a few years back then you might remember the whole Samsung Galaxy Note 7 debacle in which the phone started to explode. Even though there isn’t very much risk of such a thing but it never takes such things with your life.

Besides, if you don’t use your refurbished mobile phone while charging, you’ll definitely see a better improvement in the overall battery health. Don’t misunderstand me, the battery will degrade over time but this way the process will slow downs a lot.

7. Don’t Let It Overheat

If you’re a dedicated mobile gamer then you might’ve noticed that your smartphone will overheat if you continuously play on it or if you leave it for too long in the sun. This not only affects the battery life of the phone but also impacts the overall performance of the device and its display.

That’s why if you sense that the phone you’re using is getting overheated then put it down and let it cool down.

Conclusion

By following these protective measures you can ensure that your refurbished smartphone gets the best care possible. This is because the better you treat your phone, the longer it’ll keep on running.
