Galaxy Z, S, A: Samsung Series Explained | Wise Market PK

In the general smartphone market, Samsung is only second to Apple. However, when we consider the entirety of the Android market, no one came close to beating Samsung.

Like Apple, they’ve been creating new and improved smartphones yearly. These phones are defined by what Samsung series they belong to. Therefore, I will explain what they are and how they differ today.

In this article, I’ll be explaining the following:

  • What is a smartphone series
  • Types of Samsung Galaxy series

For those who aren’t aware of the concept of series and how they work, let’s start by going over it.

What Is a Smartphone Series

Many people around the world who aren’t very tech savvy or just don’t really care about the type of phone don’t really understand the concept of series.

A series in smartphones refers to a set of phones manufactured by the same company. They usually share common design elements, components, operating systems and features. For example, Samsung’s S-series consists of their flagship Galaxy devices such as the S21 FE, S22 5G, and S22 Ultra 5G, while Apple’s iPhone 12 series includes the iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12. Unlike Apple, there are several Samsung series to help them to keep experimenting with their phones.

These phones are made to fit within separate price ranges and target different markets. The higher-spec models with more advanced features usually cost more than their budget counterparts which lack some of those features. Some phone manufacturers also produce phones in different sizes allowing users to pick one according to their preference.

In addition to the models released within each series, companies often release special edition devices with unique features such as additional storage or a different material. Some phones are also released with exclusive colour options to add another element of customization.

Furthermore, creating new series can help a particular company to test out new and experimental phones. If the phones become successful, they continue the lineup, and if not, then they terminate it. Plus, they also create series with a lower price point so people can enjoy the same company’s tech at a lower cost.

Overall, the concept of a series in smartphones allows manufacturers to cater to different markets and provide users with options when purchasing their devices. It also allows for greater competition between brands as each company tries to outdo their competitors by providing better hardware and software specs at various price points.

Now then, let’s move to the main topic, which is the types of Samsung series.

Types of Samsung Galaxy Series

As I mentioned before, Samsung has been creating new and different series every now and then, which are catered to a specific type of audience. By the time of writing this article, 10 Samsung series have been released over the years. However, a lot of them have been discontinued.

Now only a hand full of the Samsung series are currently being sold, and the top 3 are the Samsung Galaxy Z series, the Samsung Galaxy S series, and the Samsung Galaxy A series. All of these series have been designed to target specific types of audiences. Let’s discuss them one at a time.

1. Samsung Galaxy Z Series

Samsung Galaxy Z Series

We’re going to start off with one of the latest high-end series, which has been taking the world by storm. This particular line of Samsung series was launched in the year 2020 when Covid-19 was going around. One of the latest version of the flip series on phones includes Z Flip 4.

The key distinguishing feature of all phones in the series is their folding capabilities. Yes, you read that right; this lineup of phones can fold on themselves. The displays on these mobile phones are made up of two parts – an inner display and an outer display – both of which can be folded to switch between tablet and phone modes. This means that users can enjoy a larger screen size when needed but also keep portability when carrying their devices around.

The cameras on these mobile phones also stand out in terms of quality, as they feature triple-camera setups with both telephoto and ultra-wide lenses for capturing stunning shots in any lighting environment.

Overall, this Samsung series is an impressive line of foldable devices that offer a combination of portability and power. With their dynamic displays and powerful hardware, these devices are perfect for anyone who wants a device that can do it all.

2. Samsung Galaxy S Series

Another one of the premium Samsung lineup is the S series which has tons of amazing devices. It’s the oldest running flagship series that was introduced in June 2010. One of the latest S series flagship phones is the Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G.

In addition to cutting-edge hardware and software components, each phone in the series boasts unique design elements that make it stand out from competitors. In addition to their premium hardware specifications, all phones offer an enhanced user experience through their intuitive TouchWiz interface, custom themes, and access to proprietary apps.

In addition to core hardware specs like displays, processors, memory, etc., users can also customize their experience with accessories made specifically for this Samsung series.

3. Samsung Galaxy A Series

Samsung Galaxy A Series

This particular Samsung series is also old but not as old as the S series. It was released in the year 2014, meaning 5 years after the success of the S series.

The A Series is a lineup of mid-range smart devices from the South Korean electronics giant. In addition to being an affordable alternative to their flagship Galaxy S series, it has become one of the most popular mid-range phones.

Additionally, this Samsung series offers devices with impressive specs for its price, including an advanced camera system and long battery life. It also runs on Android, giving users access to Google’s vast selection of apps, games, and services.

With its stylish design and competitive pricing, the Samsung Galaxy A Series is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a great device without breaking the bank. One of the best devices from this lineup is the Galaxy A73 5G.

Conclusion

Overall, all the Samsung series have some of the best smartphones in the market. I personally prefer the Z Fold 4 due to the fact that you can fold it into half its size.
