Does the New Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Live Up to the Hype

Yes! The wait is finally over because Samsung has released the latest and greatest smartphone. So, if you’re the type of person who loves to buy Samsung mobile phones, you’re in luck. Now you can go out (or order online 😅) and buy the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

However, the initial impression of the smartphone might not be what you may be expecting. Visually, the smartphone is almost identical to last year’s flagship Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. But if you’re willing to look past it, then there are a lot of things that you’ll like about the phone. That’s why today, I’m going to give you a comprehensive review of the Samsung S23 Ultra.

Therefore, with that said, here are the topics that we’ll go over in this article.

  • Features of the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
  • Does it live up to the hype

With that said, let’s start by going over some of the main features of this phone and how much it stacks against other Samsung mobile phones.

Features of the New Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Samsung has always made sure to put its best foot forward when it comes to mobile phones. This is because they have to compete with Apple, which is a world-renowned smartphone manufacturer. Almost half a year ago, Apple released the new iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is the device they want to beat if they want to become the top dog in the smartphone industry.

I believe that the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has with it takes to become one of the best smartphones all over the world. Now, I want to stop my rambling here and start going over the things that you’re actually here for😂.

1. Chipset

The very major change that Samsung made this year is with the chipset that they use in their mobile phones. If you’ve been following Samsung phones for the last couple of years, then you know that they use 2 chipsets for their smartphones which are Snapdragon and Exynos.

Both of these chipsets are targeted towards different audiences depending upon in which region you buy it. Even though both of the chipsets were great and all, it was well known that the Exynos was somewhat behind the Snapdragon chipset. That’s why, this year, they’ve totally ditched the whole Exynos chipset and used only the Qualcomm SM8550-AC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the S23 Ultra.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is a 4 nm chipset which is a significant improvement over the previous iterations of the same lineup. The phone itself is much faster and more responsive because of this. Plus, it can handle even more processor-intensive tasks than before. Additionally, it also comes with the Adreno 740 GPU for a good gaming session. It features hardware-accelerated ray tracing that can significantly improve your overall gaming experience.

2. Storage

One thing that you notice about this phone is that it doesn’t come with the 128 GB variant anymore which means that the price is also higher for the base model. For some, it might feel like they’re making the device itself harder to get for everyone, but that is not true.

We all agree that 128 GB of storage is quite a lot for an average person who doesn’t use the phone very much. However, we all need to understand that the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is a media-centric phone that can record 8K videos.

So, the question that I want to ask you is, “Do you really think that 128 GB of non-expandable storage will be enough?” I recently bought a used iPhone 12 Pro with 128 GB of internal storage, and after 2 months, I’ve seen that I’ve almost filled half of the storage. Granted, most of the storage is filled by shows I download on Netflix 😅, but it doesn’t take away the fact that it’s almost half full.

Plus, the phone also comes with 2 RAM variants. One is 8 GB while the other is 12 GB, both of which are enough even if you’re a heavy gamer.

3. Camera

Ah yes! The pride and joy of Samsung, their cameras. They’ve always made sure that they’re the first ones that bring some sort of innovation when it comes to cameras on their smartphones, and they’ve never disappointed their fans.

They were the first company to bring forth the 108 MP camera and keeping up with that tradition, they’ve used a 200 MP main camera in the S23 Ultra. One thing that I would like to say is that those are a lot of pixels, but with camera lenses, shouldn’t they be better than the 12 MP camera used in an iPhone?

Actually, the purpose is to use so many pixels to combine multiple sets of pixels to make sure that each time you take a picture, it gives you that crisp and sharp look that you’re looking for. If we say that each block contains 9 pixels taken from a 108 MP camera, the end result you’ll get will be comparable to the 12 MP camera of an iPhone. So, with this camera lens, they’ve bumped it to 200 MP and made sure that it gets much better quality than before because each block can contain about 16 pixels and give you much better results than before.

4. Design

Now, this is the thing that most of you are disappointed with because the design of the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is practically identical to last year’s S22 Ultra. However, if we look closely, there are some minor yet significant differences that only improve the overall experience that you get from the phone.

Unlike last year, they’ve kept a consistent look through the entire Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup, which includes S23, S23+, and the S23 Ultra. In other words, the camera module on the back of the phone uses the same formula as individual lenses. This helps to bring a sense of symmetry to the phones for all OCD friends out there.

Additionally, the shape of the phone is also much boxier than the previous iteration. Now the smartphone is much more comfortable to hold and use. If we talk about the durability of the phone, then they’ve changed up the material that they used before for the phone, which was Gorilla Glass Victus+. Now it uses the Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which is much more durable than before. However, I don’t recommend throwing it against the wall to check it out 😂.

They also focused much more on the e-waste aspect by using recycled materials for the parts of the phone. This is great and all, but if you really care for the environment, then I’ll suggest and used mobile or a refurbished mobile phone.

5. Battery

The last thing that I want to talk about this phone is the battery capacity that it comes with. This is because, in 2023, you can’t get by with just a 3000 mAh battery. I mean, you can get by, but at the end of the day, the phone will most like will in lower battery percentage😅.

Luckily, the phone does feature a 5000 mAh battery. Now you might be thinking, “Isn’t it just the same battery capacity from last year?” and you’ll be completely right. The reason why they still have the same battery capacity is that a 5000 mAh battery is large enough for most people to get them throughout the day. Plus, if you manage it right, you can easily stretch it for more than a day, which will only improve the overall charge cycles and battery health of the phone.

Additionally, it also supports 45W wired charging that can go from 0%-65% in just 30 minutes (I want to clarify that the figure I’m talking about is what the company is advertising).

Does It Live Up to the Hype

Now, the big question is, ” Was it worth the hype, and should you consider purchasing it in Pakistan?” The simple answer that I would like to give is “Yes & Yes.” From what I can tell, the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has more than lived up to the hype that followed the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G.

The specs and features that it comes with are more than enough to persuade me to buy Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, but unfortunately, I don’t have the money to buy one😅. So, I’m just gonna stick with my used iPhone 12 Pro.

However, if you’ve been a fan of Samsung mobile phones for a while now and want to upgrade, then I highly recommend that you check the S23 Ultra out. You can get this and more from Wise Market, where we make sure that our customers get the best possible products for their hard-earned money.
